In response to the changes to regulations throughout the UK with regard to the type of tanks that can be used for oil storage Thermsaver have added Harlequin oil storage tanks to their product range.
All the oil storage tanks are manufactured from ultra-violet stabilised premium quality, medium density polyethylene (MDPE) for excellent resistance against impact and the damaging effects of sunlight.
Unlike old-fashioned metal tanks, polyethylene tanks will neither rot nor rust and will never require painting.
The complete range of single skin and bunded oil tanks are manufactured in an ISO9001:2000, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 accredited production environment and designed to exceed the very toughest regulatory, technical and environmental requirements.
Harlequin is proud to support The Oil Firing Technical Equipment Association's OFCERT Licensing Scheme, which includes OFST100 - the only independently recognised standard for the design and manufacture of plastic oil tanks.
Harlequin bunded tanks are engineered to exceed the most demanding requirements, including the relevant aspects of The Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001, The Water Environment (Oil Storage) (Scotland) Regulations 2006, British Standard BS5410, Pollution Prevention Guidelines PPG2 and comparable requirements throughout the United Kingdom.
A bund is a secondary containment area, a second skin around the original tank should the primary tank be damaged.
For ease of installation every Harlequin Bunded Tank, from Thermsaver, is supplied complete with electronic tank contents gauge, failsafe overfill prevention capability and a choice of top outlet, or bottom outlet with tank fitting kit.
The range of bunded oil storage tanks are ideal for use in domestic, agricultural, commercial and industrial use where, in the event of a spillage, there could be significant consequences to the environment.
If your tank is just used to store oil for a single family dwelling, it’s classed as a domestic installation. In England and Wales, domestic oil storage tanks are covered by the Building Regulations and in Scotland by the Scottish Building Standards. In both areas they are enforced by Local Authority Building Control Departments.
