Operation of Heating Controls
The majority of domestic room thermostats are on/off controls which monitor room temperature and switch the heating on or off accordingly to maintain the desired comfort level. When the room temperature reaches the set point, the switch breaks which in turn removes power from both the pump and the boiler. In the case of the temperature falling too low, the switch closes in order to reconnect the supply.
Programmable room thermostats are also on/off controls; though the main difference from the domestic room thermostat is that they allow a number of daily temperature settings that change automatically at pre-selected times. In other words, they operate in short blocks of heating time in comparison with simpler models.
The added advantage of having a system that is capable of this is that the temperature can be monitored closely and altered to maintain maximum comfort at all times, no matter what task the users are doing. This also means that the issue of overheating the household is eliminated as well as ensuring that energy and money are still saved without switching the system off completely.
Far From Complicated
Programmable thermostats are easy to install via qualified electrician and with proper instructions given upon installation are relatively simple for the domestic operator to use. As well as saving energy and saving money it is also said that they help to reduce CO2 emissions.
