Why get MCS accredited?
The MCS shows your ability to carry out an installation to your customers. In the quickly growing heat pump industry, installers and products that have the MCS logo are likely to be looked at in a different light and thought to be the preferred option when choosing a heat pump product. This is the case because MCS are connected to a large number of key factors for driving business demand such as:
- Feed-In Tariffs, which will bring ascertained payments to a single person, business or communities for small-scale electricity generation, For technologies where the MCS standard is in place, the technology and the installer must be MCS certified to be eligible.
- The Renewable Heat Incentive it planned to come into effect in either this year (2011) or next year (2012) with a approved tariffs and structure to that was announced in 2010, The RHI will provide a payment back to a single person, business or community for renewable heat production. The Government has displayed that the RHI is going to be tight knit with MCS products and installers.
- The Low Carbon Buildings Programme and Energy Saving Scotland the renewable grant programme only related to heating technology, require MCS certified products and installers to be used.
- The Code for Sustainable Homes, which is a compulsory requirement for all new homes that are built, must meet sustainability ratings, this takes into account energy and CO2 emission ratings. MCS certified technologies can be used to meet the requirements this particular code.
- The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) for Energy Rating of Dwellings recognises MCS certificated products when deciding whether products are fit for inclusion in SAP assessments.
To be included and take hold of this growing demand you should be aware of the certification process and how you can get included now.
