Why choose Heat pumps
Thermsaver Heating Solutions were appointed sole Scottish distributor of DeLonghi heat pump technology in 2010, having previously been known for other heating products. Oil and gas fired boilers are becoming a thing of the past and due to fossil fuels being a finite resource, they will eventually become totally obsolete.
A heat pump is a tremendous way to heat your home or business and provide domestic, corporate and commercial hot water in a cost effective and sustainable way whilst taking extra care of the environment.
Massive reductions in carbon emissions can be achieved by using a heat pump and significant cost savings can also be achieved by reducing fuel consumption.
There are three types of heat pump available, supplied by DeLonghi and distributed by Thermsaver; Ground Source, Geothermal and Air Source Heat Pumps which take low grade energy from the earth or atmosphere and convert it into high grade heat energy to be used within the home or business environment.
The internal parts of the heat pumps are located usually in a utility cupboard, where the other half, the external apparatus can be located up to 30 metres away from the building.
If you have a desire to use sustainable renewable energy to reduce your heating bills, a heat pump comes thoroughly recommended from Thermsaver. The added advantage of installing a heat pump is the new Renewable Heating Incentive coming into place June 2011.
Air Source Heat Pump
With an Air Source heat pump the heat energy is collected from the external ambient air using the heat pumps integral evaporator coil. This energy is then transferred as the heat pump acts like a reverse refrigerator producing high grade heat from a renewable source, emitting it into the building and powers not only the building’s heating system but also provides plentiful hot water. The heat pump also then cools the gas which is transferred back into liquid to begin the process over again. As well as being renewable it is also more cost effective and can be used as an air conditioner in the summer months.
Ground Source Heat Pump
With a Ground Source heat pump the heat energy is collected from the ground at a depth of 1 .2 metres using horizontal collectors and is transferred as high grade heat into the building, operating in the same way as an air source pump by providing heating and hot water for the establishment. With a Geothermal heat pump the heat energy is collected from the ground using open/closed loop boreholes at vertical depths of 30m-100m. The heat pump then transfers this energy as high grade heat into the building again, much in the same fashion as an air source pump.
Case Studies
This section contains various case studies pertaining to the analysis and evaluation of DeLonghi Heat Pump Technology and applying their use in real houses and businesses throughout the area of distribution. These case studies have been written not only to educate the reader on the use of heat pump technology but also hopefully to ingrain a message about their usefulness.
