Benefits of an Air Source Heat Pump

Air Source Heat Pump InternalThe variety of benefits of installing a heat pump, whether in a household or a business establishment is vast. For example, a heat pump, typically collects roughly a quarter to a third of the electricity of an average resistance heater for the same volume of heating, therefore significantly decreases overhead costs. The heat pump holds an approximate efficiency of 70-95% when compared to a boiler powered by finite resources, but also has the added advantage of being more environmentally friendly and its user may be eligible for the new Renewable Heat Incentive applicable from June 2011.

The heat pump has hardly any moving parts cutting down on the amount of maintenance and upkeep performed on the heat pump which in turn cuts down on costs. It is essential to maintain the outdoor heat exchanger however, by simply keeping it clear of leaves and other undesirable materials.

Due to it being an electrical appliance which does not employ the use of flammable or potentially harmful liquids or fuels, the heat pump reduces the risk of accidents and fires to the consumer and discarding the requirements for gas or fuel, except for electricity. The heat pump system also has the capability of doubling up as an air conditioning unit in warmer temperatures as well as the standard heating system in colder weather, eliminating the need for two conflicting components.
